Podcast Spotlight: Shaping the Future of the Events Industry
At Neg Earth, we have always been deeply committed to community – whether that’s within our own team, our local area, or the wider live events industry. Building strong communities allows us to connect people across the sector by creating opportunities for underrepresented groups and supporting the next generation of talent.
While the live events industry is diverse in its range of roles, technical positions have historically been dominated by men, which can make the industry feel less accessible and welcoming to those who do not fit that description. With up to 97% of technical roles still male-dominated, it is important to advocate for greater diversity and representation. That’s why we formed an alliance with ABEP and The Zoo XYZ, both founded by Nadu Placca Rodriguez and united by a shared commitment to breaking down barriers and opening doors.
The Zoo XYZ is a purpose-driven global events agency, while ABEP is a community and networking platform created to help Black event professionals at every stage of their careers learn, connect and thrive within the industry. We invited Nadu Placca Rodriguez to speak with Jasmine Williams, our Project Manager, about the journey of Shaping the Future of the Events Industry.
The podcast explores how education is central to both ABEP’s and The Zoo XYZ’s mission. Through The Zoo XYZ Education – a CIC, AQA and CPD -accredited training provider – they equip people with the practical skills needed to successfully build careers within the industry. This closely aligns with Neg Earth’s ongoing commitment to developing talent at every stage, from supporting existing staff to helping newcomers gain valuable experience and confidence.
Together, our alliance reflects a shared belief in creating clearer pathways into the industry and supporting the next generation of live events professionals. The podcast also explores the importance of advocacy and the role businesses can play in shaping a more inclusive industry culture. Through their focus on social sustainability, both The Zoo XYZ and ABEP are helping challenge long-standing barriers within live events, while championing greater diversity, representation and equity across the sector. This aligns with our belief that lasting industry change comes not only from technical excellence, but from creating environments where a wider range of people can see themselves represented and supported.
Through these shared values, we – alongside ABEP and The Zoo XYZ – continue to build collaborative, inclusive communities. By working together, the alliance aims to drive meaningful change within the live events industry and create more opportunities for underserved communities. The Zoo XYZ and ABEP remain committed to authentically champion women and the Black culture, we are proud to support and grow alongside that vision.
