This year’s Pride theme celebrates the contributions that the LGBTQ+ community has made to science and innovation. As a company dedicated to the live events industry, we are proud to support the moments that bring people together by using lighting to help create unforgettable experiences. We want to shine a light on those within our community whose talent and creativity have helped shape who we are today.

We are proud to have worked with some of the most iconic LGBTQ+ artists, whose music and visibility have not only influenced the industry, but have also inspired generations of fans around the world. However, the LGBTQ+ community does not only exist in front of the bright lights. It also includes the talented professionals working behind the scenes to create once-in-a-lifetime experiences for millions. We are privileged to be part of an industry that combines science and innovation while continuing to champion diversity and representation.

Lights With Pride

This Pride Month, we set out to recognise the people whose talent and dedication help shape the live events industry. We kicked off our Pride celebrations by introducing our new Robe GigaPointe fixtures as part of our ‘Lights with Pride’ campaign, honouring the people who bring innovation and technical excellence to each and every production. The campaign also provided an opportunity to highlight the stories and experiences of those helping to drive positive change within the live events community.

Conversations That Inspire Change

We launched the first episode of our podcast in collaboration with ABEP/The Zoo XYZ. Speaking with Nadu, founder of both The Zoo XYZ & ABEP, we discussed representation within the live events industry and the importance of creating pathways for women and other underrepresented groups. As we celebrate Pride, we are proud to spotlight LGBTQ+ professionals whose contributions continue to strengthen and diversify our industry.

Celebrating Together

To conclude our Pride activities, we hosted our monthly Tea & Talk with a special Pride twist. This month, colleagues put their knowledge to the test with a quiz on LGBTQ+ icons in the music industry and general Pride trivia, all while enjoying a selection of Pride-themed sweet treats. Tea & Talk is a great opportunity to catch up with coworkers and strengthen our sense of community. Our Pride-themed edition was a reminder that everyone belongs here, and our workplace is strongest when people can bring their whole selves to work.

Trading Sandwiches for Parmas

Did you know that 50 years ago, the UK’s favourite picnic snack was a cheese sandwich? Today, it’s a bag of crisps.

At Neg Earth, we like to stay ahead of the curve and do things a little differently. So, we swapped sandwiches and crisps for authentic Aussie parmas. After all, fried chicken and crispy fries are much more exciting.

A Taste of Australia in Park Royal

On Friday 19th June, we celebrated National Picnic Day by inviting Russell from Parma Medics to bring a taste of Australia to our “back yard” in Park Royal. He served up a selection of freshly-made parmas, with delicious Vegan and Vegetarian options, accompanied by some Aussie drinks to keep our spirits high and our bellies full. With ambitions of becoming known for serving the best parmas in the UK, we have to say that Parma Medics is well on its way.

Sunshine, Picnic Blankets, and Good Company

The food was matched by equally impressive weather. With temperatures reaching a glorious 32 degrees, we transformed the back yard into a picnic haven complete with gazebos, picnic blankets, beans bags, and some plants – because no picnic is complete without a touch of nature.

More than just an excuse to enjoy great food in the sunshine, the day was a chance to come together and strengthen our sense of community by trying something a little different. Head over to our Instagram to catch the highlights of the day and see how we brought a little taste of Australia to Park Royal.

Did you know that gardening is considered a form of ‘green exercise’, and can reduce stress levels by 4.2% and enhance feelings of well-being by 6.6%?

In many ways, gardening is both earth care and self-care, with benefits that grow in both directions.

World Earth Day: A Celebration with Purpose

This year, we celebrated World Earth Day with purpose – engaging in a series of activities across two weeks that brought community together while making a positive impact on our environment. From litter picking along the Grand Union Canal to supporting local wildlife initiatives and reimagining our monthly Tea & Talk, each activity reflected our shared commitment to sustainability and community.

Caring for Our Community: Grand Union Canal Clean-Up

We kicked things off with a walk along the Grand Union Canal, equipped with litter pickers, gloves and bin bags, ready to clear any waste left behind. It was a simple but meaningful way to give back to our local area. At Neg Earth, community extends beyond our workplace, and by helping restore the canal, we’re also creating a cleaner, more enjoyable space for those who live nearby, as well as for local wildlife. Encouragingly, we found less litter than last year – a small but important sign that collective efforts are making a difference.

Supporting Wildlife & Local Ecosystems

Our focus on wildlife continued as we encouraged participation in the Ealing Beaver Challenge – an initiative dedicated to reintroducing beavers into flood-prone areas. These animals play a vital role in restoring natural ecosystems and helping to reduce flooding for local residents. It’s a powerful reminder that sometimes the most effective solutions come from working with nature rather than against it.

Sustainability in Action: A Greener Tea & Talk

We also gave our monthly Tea & Talk a sustainable twist. Led by our very own Matthew Alston, the session brought colleagues together to plant a selection of pet-safe herbs, while learning practical ways to care for plants and adopt more sustainable habits at home. It was a chance to connect and learn something new, as well as enjoy some therapeutic gardening. Even our sweet treats stayed on theme…

Looking Ahead: Growing Our Impact Together

Our World Earth Day activities show that sustainability can be both hands-on and genuinely enjoyable. Whether it’s cleaning up your local community, supporting nature reserves, or simply getting stuck into a bit of gardening, every small action contributes to a bigger impact. Together, we’re continuing to build a workplace culture that values both people and the planet.

October is a special month dedicated to recognizing the incredible achievements and resilience of the Black community. It’s a time to reflect on the ongoing importance of equity, justice, and opportunity — not just in history, but in our present and future. Black History Month serves as a reminder of the vital contributions made by Black individuals across all areas of society, and it encourages us all to play a part in fostering a more inclusive world.

At Neg Earth Lights, we believe in the power of community, conversation, and action. We are committed to using our platform to support, uplift, and continue these important discussions, not only during Black History Month but every day of the year.

Since this year’s Black History Month theme was “Legacies with Action,” we chose three influential figures from the live event and music industry—individuals who represent the journey from history to present day.

This month, we also celebrated our new partnership with @the_abep and @thezooxyz, we share a commitment to social mobility, equity, and sustainability, aiming to open doors, remove barriers, and nurture the next generation of diverse talent in technical and creative fields in the events industry. We cannot wait to start working together. Who are we – Association of Black Event Professionals

To close out Black History Month, we hosted a special Tea and Talk session and quiz, where our team enjoyed a delicious selection of treats whilst embracing and celebrating Black culture.

Happy Black History Month!
